Day 5: French Holiday (Paris Disneyland)

The forecast called for rain. We packed our rain jackets, lunch, and a few snacks then headed out the door. We caught the RER to Disneyland Paris so we could be there when the park opened at 10:00 am. Our timing was perfect. The entrance is under the main Disneyland Hotel, and that’s when we noticed that most of the queue areas are covered to keep as many out of the rain (if it happens to rain) as possible. The park is set up pretty much like Disneyland California, with wider streets and sidewalks. No splashing water rides here, as the weather is cooler and rainfall more plentiful. Each ride is very similar to those we are used to, but they have some slight differences to make them unique to Paris. Alecia’s favorite kiddie ride, Peter Pans Flight, was closed for refurbishment. ðŸ˜¢ However, she also loves Space Mountain in Disneyland and HyperSpace Mountain Paris was pretty awesome. We think they could benefit by fitting their headrests with more cushion. Ouch!
Over at Walt Disney Studio theme park, the ride to see was Ratatouille. It was fun, but Russ and Brooklyn’s favorite is the Hollywood Tower of Terror Hotel. It’s an exact duplicate of the one that used to be in California Adventures before they changed to Guardians of the Galaxy and it did not disappoint. Alecia sat Tower of Terror out but made a friend, about ten years old that was terrified of the ride, got out of line and found her way to the waiting area. She was quite nervous about reconnecting with her family again. She spoke English, but it was obvious she wasn’t American. Not sure if Alecia spoke English she used hand gestures and sound effects to try to ask her questions. They had a good discussion and Alecia promised her she wouldn’t leave her until her father arrived and there were smiles all around when he did.
Our absolute favorite event of the Day was the Mickey And The Magician musical. Broadway-quality shows that left you wanting to see it again. Worth the price of admission all by itself. Yes, it was that fantastic!
Back to Disneyland to do a few more rides and walk through areas. Did the Alice In Wonderland Labyrinth, and it started to lightly rain. As we exited the area, it started to downpour. Everyone was rushing to the closest ride to get out of the weather. We were close to Small World (our least favorite ride in Cali) but decided it would give us an opportunity to dry off. You know what? We really enjoyed it! The dolls are beautiful and the animation was so colorful and fun to look at. We are pretty sure Paris scored on that one.
Much of what we read online before we came, were stories of how rude people are that patron Disneyland Paris. There were comments about people cutting in front of others, and not respecting personal space. For the record, in case your thinking of visiting in the future, we didn’t find this to be true at all. Everyone was very courteous and kind.
P.S. When you visit, be sure to stop by Starbucks for a donut...D-I-V-I-N-E!!! ðŸ˜‰
