Day 9 Australia Adventure (Port Douglas)

Today is a free day. No scheduled events, no clocks.
We tooled around on Trip Advisor and Google for ideas.

We ate brekkie at The Little Larder, buttermilk waffles with vanilla cinnamon syrup and vanilla mascarpone, side of bacon, and scrambled eggs.

Did a bit of shopping on the way back to the condo, then looked into taking a tour of a local sugar cane and cocoa farm.

We drove about 20 minutes north to the farm and no visitors were there. A tour wasn't scheduled for another hour and they didn't take visa for amounts under $20.

The lady in charge recommended going to Mossman Gorge, part of the Daintree National Park. We took a drive to Mossman Gorge and stopped to take pictures of different road signs and a shared railway section of the road. The railway tracks up here look like a kiddie train track, as they are extremely narrow and run right in front of people's homes.

At Mossman Gorgewe parked our car and paid a small fee to ride a bus up to the Gorge and into Aboriginal tribe land. More was seen on this trek through the forest than the Night Walk yesterday. The locals (and tourists) go up to the Gorge to swim in the fresh mountain water river with no worries about crocs or stingers.

We heard people say how cold it was, stuck our feet in and enjoyed the refreshing coolness to beat the humidity and heat, but it wasn't that cold.

Came back to our place at Hibiscus Gardens, booked through Airbnb, and took a walk to

The water was warm and inviting and looked like it was filled with gold glitter, it felt like paradise. The beach is absolutely gorgeous. Due to stinger season, nets have been set up to keep swimmers from harm. Hopefully, we'll go again before we check out tomorrow.

We arrived back at the condo and took a swim in the pool.
We also had some fun with the waterproof beanbag chair. We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Tomorrow we head back to Cairns for a night. Our Airbnb in Port Douglas was above and beyond what we expected and would highly recommend it to anyone who gets the chance to visit.
