AR-Destinations is on the road again. We are off to visit the Washington DC area, see the iconic sights, and stay with Alecia’s Uncle Jim and Aunt Grace in Virginia. We started off the day stress-free. There was no rushing out the door as we had an afternoon flight out of Seattle, non-stop to Baltimore. When we take our trips we have wonderful friends, and family, that help us out by taking us to the airport and parking our car at their homes. We use the Shakespear Shuttle Service (our good friend from days past in Wenatchee, Kailey Shakespear) or Ryan’s Rides (Russ’ nephew Ryan Dixon). This time we used the SSS. Check-in at Southwest was quick and TSA was super fast, as they didn’t make us take our shoes off, and they got rid of the bins (everything goes in your bags). They didn’t require electronics to be on display either. We only waited 30 minutes at the gate and were one of the first groups to enter the plane. We chose the emergency exit row, with extra legroom, for the five-hour flight.
After landing in Baltimore, at 10:15 pm ET, we caught a shuttle to the car rental. Funny story on the car rental, as this was the second car rental for our trip. The first rental was accidentally booked for Tuesday, February 13th, instead of Tuesday, March 13th. We got an email on Wednesday, February 21st, to rate the recent rental. That’s when we realized the error. Needless to say, we were a no-show and it cost us. It was a great deal so we didn’t feel too bad. For the second rental, we reserved an economy car. Nextcar ran out of their smaller rentals and we ended up with a nice SUV, at no extra charge. Bonus!!! We’re staying in a hotel the first night, and while Google Maps said it would take twenty minutes we made it in ten. Wow!! This trip is off to a great start.
