Flew Hawaiian Airlines . Had a one hour layover in Honolulu. We look up the word Mahalo (said after every announcement) and, if you don't know, it means thank you. Makes sense. HAHA! This should not be confused with Mohala which means to unfold or blossom, like the petals of a flower. We weren't there long enough to really get our Hawaiian vibe on. Binge watched Poldark Season 2. Alecia is still LIVID with Ross Poldark, not sure he can redeem himself.
Thank goodness we brought some of our own snacks. Cuties, mini cucumbers, Dukes hickory peach BBQ, and peanut butter m&m's. Airline food really sucks, but you're so hungry you'll eat anything.
We landed in Brisbane, after 16 hours of flight, and were told to stay seated while the Australian Quarantine Inspector came through. It was announced that if anyone got up, or interfered, the process would begin again, from the beginning. Thank goodness all the kids stayed in their seats. All overhead bin compartments were opened and the inspector sprayed the entire cabin with a fine mist of insecticide disinfectant. Declared our prescription medicines and prepacked protein cookies. Evidently, we didn't look suspicious as Border Patrol didn't give us a second glance.
Our Airbnb hosts mum picked us up and greeted us with hugs and air kisses. Slept a few hours, well Alecia did anyway. The hosts' Canadian boyfriend dropped us at the airport at 4:30 am. Baggage weight regulations changed and we had to shift around some things. Boarded the 5:30 am flight to Sydney.
